Orientation Guide

At the Austin Alpaca Playhouse our mission is to let your Alpaca dreams run free.  Our goal is to redefine your idea of what an Alpaca Playhouse can be.  We believe that when it comes to selecting an Alpaca Playhouse no one need settle. To allow maximum enjoyment by as many people as possible, please read through this guide with some attention.

Principles:

  1. Contribute to the Experience of Others

    • Our goal is to enable visitors to have transformative experiences while they connect with community members. Please prioritize contribution to the community.

  2. Good Clean Healthy Fun

    • Alpacas eat and play healthily. You can too.

    • Keep a focus on your physical, mental and spiritual health along with those around you.

  3. Enjoy The Alpacas

    • They are Special, Strange and Adorable.  It took 8,000 years for humans to breed them into what they are now.

    • Be Slow, Calm and Gentle around the creatures.

    • Make sure to always keep all gates closed with carabiners.  Alpacas will open latches if not secured.

    • Do not let any pets in the back yard with the Alpaca.

Logistics:

  1. Wifi Network:

    • Network: Eight Little Eyes  PW: iiiiiiii (that’s 8 little i’s).

    • If you need to print or control music, you will need to be on the Black Rock City Wifi.  Ask around for password.

  2. COMPLETELY CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF - Don’t leave a mess and actively help Organize Things - i.e.

    • Please Please Please. Don’t make a mess, or leave things lying around.

    • Put things back, clean things up. Encourage others to do so also. Together we can all make it work.

    • Do your dishes immediately.  And put in dishwasher. Recruit people to help you empty dishwasher if full. Put things back in proper places based on labels. Everything has a place.

    • Organize things so others can see & benefit and know what to do

    • Take out the trash if it’s full. Just do it!

  3. Do not Leave the Back or Side Gate Open

    • Alpacas will escape and are very hard to retrieve.   Make sure it is locked closed at all times.

  4. Only Smoke in Designated Areas and do not VAPE inside.

  5. Contribution

    • The Alpaca Playhouse experiences are enabled by the contributions of its visitors and participants. If you have any special talents, skills or knowledge that could enhance the alpaca experience for others, please be generous.  Please try to clean up 110% after yourself and do not create extra work for anyone.

    • If you don’t know what to do, please: Take out the trash, if the trash cans are full, and put in the container outside by the garage (and reclip the carabiner so the alpaca don’t escape). Trash bags under the sink.

  6. Feedback

  7. Bathrooms/Septic: Please don’t put anything other than toilet paper and poop in the toilet. The septic system is anaerobic and cannot handle anything including “flushable wipes” which should not be put in the toilet. Put them in the trash cans.

  8. Parking

    • Please DO NOT PARK other than on the street or in the parking lot without discussing.  Don’t block the circle even for 10 minutes, as delivery trucks need to get through.  Park on the street carefully unless it is wet. Don’t drive or park on the grass anywhere or you might get stuck and could run over the sprinklers. You can drop items in the circle if you need to unload.. Don’t park on the grass. There are sprinklers all over that are hard to see and will be crushed by wheels.

  9. Dress

    • Consider Mosquitoes in your dress and costumery plans. They can be really bad at times.

  10. Food / Alcohol

    • Please do not bring any meat into the house.  If you need you can put it in the doghouse refrigerator and cook outside.

    • Except for designated special occasions, no alcohol.

    • Do not bring junk food into the house or leave it laying around. Especially sugary stuff.  Rather, please share healthy food with others.

    • Do not bring plastic into the house.

    • Do not bring water in plastic bottles rather bring a nice water bottle and use one of the filtered water systems. If you forget we have extra glass bottles.

  11. Phone Charging and Electronics / Music

    • There are several places to charge phones inside and outside. These have most needed cords. Please don’t plug phones into random places to charge, especially in the kitchen or where other stuff is happening.

    • Don’t unplug ANY electronics, or touch the black stereo receivers. Don’t press buttons.  Never increase the volume on the black receivers.

    • Use the “Block Rock City” network to control the music. Password “popopopo”. You can play from Spotify directly if on this network. Or get the Sonos S1 app (grey one, not the S2 app). If music is playing and you want it off you can say “Alexa stop music”, or “Alexa, turn down music volume”. There are also white square boxes in the living room and dining room and garage that control the volume. You can rest the volume button on the white boxes only (not on stereo receivers).

    • If you are DJ’ing make sure you are only using Sonos in the Rooms that you desire. Make sure that you keep volume control at a reasonable level in all rooms especially outside “rooms” where the music will disturb the neighbors.
